The Parent Payment Portal is now open for eligible parents and guardians to apply for the parent payment at https://parentpayment.alberta. ca.

To help ease the extra costs families may face while children are home during labour disruption, parents and guardians of students aged 12 and under who attend a public, separate or francophone school affected by the disruption may be eligible for the payment.

- $30 per child per instructional day for children aged 12 years and under.
Payments will be retroactive to October 6, 2025, and will continue for the duration of the labour disruption. Disbursements will be issued monthly via e-transfer, commencing October 31, 2025.

Must be a parent or guardian of a child aged 12 or under who is enrolled in a public, separate or francophone school; and

Both the parent or guardian and the child must be Alberta residents; and

Only one parent or guardian per child may apply.

Information from the student’s records in PASI will be used to validate the student’s eligibility for the program.
Children with disabilities:
In addition to the parent payment, further support is available through the parent payment portal for families of children aged 5 to 17 with active Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) agreements who are affected by labour action.

$30 per child per instructional day for children aged 12 years and under.

$60 per child per instructional day for children aged 13 years and older.
Families will need to provide their FSCD file ID number when they apply for this additional support through the parent payment portal. The number can be found on the FSCD agreement.

Applicants must log in using a verified Alberta.ca account. If an account does not exist, one must be created and verified. A link to set up the Alberta.ca account can be accessed from the application screen.
Additional Information:

Payments are non-taxable and do not require repayment.

The benefit is available regardless of household income.
Please note that as part of the application process, parents or guardians are required to provide their child’s ASN (Alberta Student Number). Families may contact their school if they have difficulty locating their child’s ASN.
