Golden Hills School Division Celebrates Approval of New K–9 Westmount School in Strathmore

Golden Hills School Division is excited to hear the announcement from the Government of Alberta, given the approval to move from planning to the design phase for the replacement of Westmount School in Strathmore through the province’s School Construction Accelerator Program. This initiative will support the current and upcoming growth in Strathmore and area. Golden Hills is proud to lead innovative projects that engage students in meaningful, future-focused learning. This new school will further support Golden Hills vision of creating dynamic spaces that inspire curiosity, creativity, and a strong sense of community.
The current K-6 Westmount School has served the community for over five decades but is reaching its expiration date. The new expanded K-9 Westmount will offer students a learning environment designed to support educational excellence and meet the evolving needs of families in Strathmore and surrounding areas. Golden Hills will continue to keep families and the wider community informed as planning and construction move forward.

“Finally, on behalf of our Board, I would like to express our deep gratitude to the Government of Alberta and MLA Chantelle deJonge, for recognizing the needs of our community and for investing in the future of our students,” Board Chair Laurie Huntley states.
