The Ralph McElroy Memorial Scholarship was established to assist Wheatland Crossing School graduates who were members of a 4-H Club and who are planning to enter a post-secondary institution in at least a 2-year program.
Each year at the Wheatland Crossing School Graduation Exercises the recipient of this scholarship will be recognized with the presentation of the Ralph McElroy Memorial Scholarship Shield which will be permanently displayed in Wheatland Crossing School.
The recipient of the scholarship, upon registering for the second year in a post-secondary institution, will receive a sum of money not less than $100.00 (based on interest accrued on the trust fund over the year). If the recipient is not eligible to receive the fund based on confirmation of the registration in the second year of enrolment in a post-secondary institution, the fund will be left in the trust account. In the case of a tie, the award will be shared equally by the recipients.
The criteria for the scholarship will be based on academic achievement at the Grade 12 level and participation in the 4-H program. Students are requested to provide the requirements, both academic and 4-H participation, by May 31st to the principal of Wheatland Crossing School. The leaders, or designate, from each 4-H Club will review the applications (upon verification of the academic records by the principal) and designate the scholarship recipient.
