The Board of Trustees is very pleased to announce the name for the new school currently under construction in Strathmore.
Earlier this school year, a naming committee was established consisting of parents and other community members to gather input and recommend possible names for the new school to the Golden Hills Board of Trustees. The naming committee followed an inclusive process that reflected upon Strathmore’s history, local geography and other potential considerations that may be of significance when considering a name for the new school.
After careful discussion, the committee recommended a short list of possibilities to the Board of Trustees. Golden Hills’ Board is very appreciative of the work of that committee and, based on their recommendations, has unanimously passed a motion to name the new school George Freeman School. The Board of Trustees recognizes this as an excellent opportunity to recognize one of Strathmore’s local citizens who has had a significant and positive long term impact on the Strathmore community and our Golden Hills schools.
George Freeman was a long time Strathmore resident and is well known to many in our community:
The Board would like to extend their appreciation and thanks to the naming committee and to all those who participated in the school naming project.
