NEWS RELEASE – Kindergarten to Grade 9 School and Regional Recreational Facility Partnership
Golden Hills School Division in partnership with The Town of Strathmore and Wheatland County are pleased to announce the development of a Regional Recreational Facility as part of a project to build a Kindergarten to Grade 9 School in Strathmore, Alberta.
All three parties are investing in the construction of this facility. The Town of Strathmore has committed $5 million, Wheatland County $3 million and Golden Hills School Division is contributing $2 million dollars into the facility instead of building a separate school gymnasium.
Both Wheatland County and the Town of Strathmore had already completed formal needs assessments for recreation in the area and it was agreed there was a strong demand for an indoor field house type of recreational facility. This facility will provide an indoor location for soccer, other field sports as well as court sports and hopes to include an indoor walking track as well as spectator seating.
Construction of the Kindergarten to Grade 9 School and Regional Recreational Facility is planned to begin in the summer of 2016 with the target completion fall of 2017.
Golden Hills School Division is excited for this partnership with the Town of Strathmore and Wheatland County and believes that this facility will be a great asset to the residents of Strathmore and Wheatland County.
